Batavia Air Flies to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia


Batavia Air launched its initial flight to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, May 23, 2010 with its wide body Airbus 330-200. The initial flight departed on 10.00AM from 2D Terminal, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The flight arrived on 4.45 PM local time in King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah. Batavia Air flies nonstop from Jakarta to Jeddah daily and Jakarta-Jeddah-Riyadh 2 (twice) a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

"The new flight to the holy land of muslims shows the serious effort from Batavia Air in expanding its international routes. Our target market are moslems going for umroh (off-season Haj pilgrimage) and the TKI (Indonesian worker) working in Saudi Arabia. Not so many airlines cater to this potential huge market", said Eddy Haryanto, Public Relations Manager Batavia Air.



A representative to the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Bambang Susantono, several officials from the Minister of Transportation and the Minister of Religion offices as well as some Batavia Air’s partners joined the initial flight.



Batavia Air receives a category I (one) for its flight safety. This is the highest category issued by the Department of Transportation of Indonesia for airlines. The certification is reviewed every 3 (three) months to ensure the comfort and safety of the flights operated by the airlines.

Batavia Air currently offers more than 170 flights daily, serving 39 cities across Indonesia. Batavia Air also flies to Guangzhou (China), Kuching (Malaysia) and Singapore. Batavia Air operates 39 aeroplanes, consist of Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, Airbus 319, Airbus 320, and Airbus 330.
